WTF Canada?

May 28th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in World

VANCOUVER, Canada — The Canadian government is secretly negotiating an agreement to revamp international copyright laws that could make information stored on iPods, laptops and other devices illegal, according to a leaked government document reported in Vancouver newspaper The Province.

The agreement also would force Internet service providers to hand over customer information without a court order.

The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, which would not need approval from the Canadian Parliament, would see Canada join the U.S. and the European Union in a coalition against copyright infringement.

I would bitch about my freedoms being taken, but this is Canada, not America. I remember a few years ago, when Bush was voted in for his 2nd term, so many people threatened (and a lot even did) to move to Canada. I wonder how many of them will move back now.

Hero Class - Death Knight!

May 26th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Entertainment

So with WoW’s next expansion Wrath of the Lich King, they will be releasing the first Hero Class for WoW, The Death knight. I for one can’t wait.

The new class will use a unique rune system instead of mana, energy, or rage.

They will start out at level 55 and be creatable by anyone with a current level 55 or higher character.

They will be creatable on any server, regardless of whether you have a 55 there, as long as you have a 55 on any server.

So far it looks like their talent trees will focus on tanking, dps, or pvp, they won’t be able to use shields, they will be able to dual wield, and one of their tanking talents gives them a massive 45% boost in Armor.

Death Knights can be any race, wear plate, and can use 1h swords and axes, and 2h swords and axes. They wear plate, dual wield, and will have summonable pets (although they won’t be pet classes like Hunter/Warlock)

CRANK DAT CHOPPA

May 17th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in WTF?

Ok, so yeah, this kid is walking down the street jamming to Soulja Boy or something, only to have a MOTHAF’ING Helicopter land on his head and drag him down the street.

So, the news media does the right thing, and places blame squarely where it should be placed.

ON THE IPOD.

Yeah, because if he wasn’t CRANKIN DAT SOULJA he might have been able to dodge the Helicopter right? For some reason I doubt the iPod has much or anything to do with this kids death, but the media just loves to sensationalize everything.

Beastie Boys … Dan Rather

May 13th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Six Degrees

Ask yourself, how could the Beastie Boys be Six Degrees from Dan Rather? Well, since both are in popular media, I assume there is many ways, however, I discovered one last night on accident.

Start with a little Beastie Boys, a dash of Schoolly D, some Cristopher Walken, a dab of Sing Sing, spiced up by some R.E.M., top it off with a killer and you have your path to Dan Rather.

I was listening to the Beastie Boys - Time To Get Ill, when, in the middle of the song I hear “looking at my Gucci it’s about that time” and having had this album for 22 years now (I bought it new in 1986) and having heard the same line in Big Tymers - Still Fly, I thought to myself, “who is that saying that”. So, I started my wikipedia and google mission.

First I found that the line was done by Schoolly D in the song Gucci Time, so I started reading about the rapper and his music, come to find out he has done the soundstracks for a few movies including Abel Ferrara’s King of New York. Well, in King of New York at the beginning, Frank White (Christopher Walken) is released from Sing Sing prison. Amongst the Notable inhabitants of Sing Sing is a guy named William Tager. William Tager claims to be the person, who in 1986, attacked and beat up Dan Rather while scream “Kenneth, what is the frequency?”, the inspiration for the R.E.M. song What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?

And there you have it, the relationship between the Beastie Boys and Dan Rather, although that line technically ended with R.E.M. writing the song about Dan Rather, let’s not get too technical.
